Saturday, August 9 – 8.10 PM AEST – Venue: Adelaide Oval
Fremantle is in the hunt for a top four finish, to secure the all-important double chance in the finals and to play at home if they lose in week one.
Caleb Serong and Andrew Brayshaw will get plenty of the ball and the dual rucks in Jackson and Darcy are working well, with Jackson playing as an on-baller late in games. Treacy, Voss, Amiss, Frederick and Switkowski will get plenty of opportunity to dominate this match. Hayden Young will be missed with an aductor strain that we hope is only a one or two week injury. Nat Fyfe is likely to return to add depth to the midfield.
Port were poor again last week losing by 88 points and 98 pointsin the last two weeks. Connor Rozee should return this week which will help. Ollie Wines, Zak Butters and Aliir Aliir battle really hard each week, but others will need to lift if the Power are to avoid being on the end of another embarrassing loss this week. Jack Whitlock will be better for the run after his debut last week and Willie Rioli may return after playing well in the SANFL last week.
Freo is getting close to having its best team available for selection as its captain Alex Pearce pushes for a return from a shin injury. Pearce would play just his second game since round 11 if he is right to return after a short lived comeback against Sydney in Round 17. Corey Wagner is likely to come back in after missing with a heel injury.
Fremantle by 57 points
It’s hard not to admit the sheer drama that played out when Fremantle snatched a nail-biting win over Port Adelaide, courtesy of Alex Pearce’s composed, last-minute mark and goal. Yet here we are, pouring over recent form and results to shape our AFL Betting Tips for what’s next without pretending we hold the blueprint for certainty.
Looking back, Port’s second-quarter surge had fans and pundits leaning toward a Power win but Fergo’s resilience proved decisive. On top of that, Fremantle’s climb up the ladder has been steady; this over-the-shoulder look at their form is exactly why even simple AFL Tips can carry surprising weight.
In crafting a smart AFL Betting Tips approach now, it’s less about picking winners with blind confidence and more about reading the subtle signals injuries, confidence, clutch performances. Fremantle’s finishing power, Port’s bounce-back energy, and those emotional moments that shift momentum all feed into a prediction that remains firmly grounded in what’s already unfolded on the field.
