Rail – Out 3M (previously true, Weds 21/5)
Track – Good 4
We head out to Sandown on Saturday where a good 9 race program awaits with some nice value bets at hand. It is worth noting that they raced there on Wednesday, as a result I am anticipating that runners off the speed may be advantaged. Please monitor any emerging track patterns on the day.
R1- A tough race to assess given the limited amount of exposed form.
Of those to have raced I like Miss Ole; I think this filly has plenty of scope to improve off her debut effort and will be hard to beat here.
From the unraced brigade, Quickaz is one to watch from a future viewpoint.
No Bet
R2- An even race presents us here, and I’ve settled on the topweight Fasuto. At his best he was close to Midwest and Bossy Nic which is good form for this. He maps to sit off them and Jamie Mott will give it very chance. The $8 appeals to be value in contrast to a few of his opposition.
Losesomewinmore is the obvious danger, his win first up was excellent, the outside barrier is somewhat of a concern, if he can overcome that then he’s a massive chance.
Chinqui must be given a hope off recent good form and Artistic Genius isn’t hopeless, he could be the knockout.
Backing #1 Fasuto
R3- Another open race, as with several on this card.
All Business is a horse that has showed decent ability and grit throughout its career, the way this race is run should play into its hands. From the barrier I have her settling back off midfield and coming with a strong run late. The $15 seems way over the odds.
Terilee was a terrific win on debut and last start had no luck, not getting a clear run at any stage. Energy reserves are a massive plus and with even luck will be in the finish.
Ahha Ahha should get a few favours from the draw, she is racing well and must go in the numbers.
Cradle Of Jazz can run a cheeky race and the $81 currently on offer seems excessive, I’ll be having a small ticket at those odds.
Backing #10 All Business (1 unit), #13 Cradle Of Jazz (1/2 unit)
R4- Keen to back two runners here at level staking.
Energetic Legend was good without being outstanding at his first run down from Sydney. He showed enough from that effort to suggest he would benefit a lot from it. The $18 is juicy.
The other one I am backing is Shockletz, this well related filly was good when winning at Bendigo recently. The step out to 1600M is in her favour as is the lovely barrier. Her only indifferent run was in a Group 2 race at the end of her first prep. The $18 about her is also luxurious.
Supernima and Taken will be thereabouts also.
Backing #11 Energetic Legend and #15 Shockletz
R5- Avebury was a nice winner last start, and I can’t see why she won’t continue her winning way. Whilst she has never raced at this trip, I believe she is well suited to run it right out, especially given her bloodlines. Drawn well, McNeil has won on her and the $9 is well above what I have marked her.
Extreme Virtue is the testing material, and I would have had her clearly on top if not for the awful barrier. I must back her also as I believe she is the best horse in the race.
Roadie can run a big race at huge odds and Changing Colours is a definite hope, I just can’t get her anywhere near the $3 currently on offer.
Backing #1 Avebury and #4 Extreme Virtue
R6- Sayedaty Sadaty was purchased for our better staying races and comes with decent wraps on him. This isn’t a difficult assignment and the 1800M is perfect while fresh. I see him parked midfield on the fence and being too strong for this lot.
Air Assault is above average at his best and after several runs back is now at peak fitness, he is the testing material.
Forgot You has had significant tendon injury issues in the past 18 months, if he was near his best he would give them something to worry about. He can’t be dismissed.
Bold Soul was good when resuming and will appreciate the weight drop here, he must go in.
Backing #10 Sayedaty Sadaty
R7- I particularly liked the return of Ruakaka Raider, it was set a big task first up, and his work late was first class. The race shape suits perfectly here, he will give us a mighty sight around double figure odds.
Otago is a highly talented horse and will be hard to beat, at this stage of the day I am thinking you will need to be getting a little wide off the fence, barrier 1 mightn’t be the greatest help especially as he will settle in the back half of the field.
Quickster is a chance at massive odds, I have it marked as a good each way hope around the $14 mark, the $51 they went up was ridiculously generous.
Nation’s Call has good stats 2nd up, loves the distance and won its only start at the track, don’t leave him out of your quaddy.
Backing #17 Ruakaka Raider
R8- The Open has produced 2 nice runs since resuming albeit not on the best part of the track last start. He is unbeaten 3rd up, loves the trip and is one from one at the track. Tom Prebble has an excellent affinity with him, winning 2 from 4 with another placing also, his 2kg claim is another bonus.
Stablemate Seonee can pull out a big run when at her best, she usually takes a couple of runs to find her top and arrives here in the sweet spot. She loves the 1400M too, winning 5 of 8 attempts.
Accredited is a highly talented visitor from Sydney, brought here to duck Sydney’s wet weather, he will be hard to beat.
Red Galaxy is lightly raced and up in class, he is very good though, he can take the next step.
Elouyou mightn’t get too many favours from a speed perspective here, that said he is a very good horse and shouldn’t be dismissed. The $3.20 is too skinny for my liking though.
Backing #12 The Open (1 unit) and #8 Seonee (1/2 unit)
R9- We must wait all day for our best bet Oh Too Good, and too good she will be. Lightly raced (5yo/9 starts) and never missing a place in her career, she will race on the speed in what I think will be the best part of the track. The $4 will do me just fine.
A couple of horse’s resuming will be going into my exotics at big prices, the import Bright Stripes from a great stable and Amberite, both capable types who might be storming home late.
Step Aside is a winner of his past two and can race well again.
Backing #7 Oh Too Good (1.5 units)
