Howdy Folks! Another week of midweek racing and another week of profit as Piedmont brings home the Moolah for us on Wednesday at very generous odds. If you haven’t been following us, where have you been? If you’d follow our picks in August and our staking plan, you would be up a whooping $1000 to a $10 stake! So no messing around, on to this weekend. We have picks from Rosehill Gardens, Caufield, and Belmont.
Southend looked unstoppable at the beginning of the year and after a decent rest, he should be ready to go again here. He looked full of running in a trial last weekend and that will have sharpened him up for today and blown off any cobwebs there might have been. Savagram looks a danger and is a real unknown quantity. However, he’s really stepping up in class here and for that reason the safer bet is on Southend.

Guest House brings a decent amount of experience to the table for a three year old and he’s had many of these in behind him previously. He’s been operating at Group 1 level, so this Group 3 should be well within him. Trainers Mick Price and Michael Kent have been well amongst the winners as of late, so the fact that Guest House hasn’t been on the track since March is no concern to us.

When we analyse this race, the one thing that jumps off the page is that many of these race at much further than the distance here and there are a few that race at shorter distances, which makes our search for a winner much easier. The three we looked at were our old friend Cosmic Crusader who did us a favour last weekend, the inconsistent Beiwacht and our selection Planet Red. Planet Red has been ultra consistent without managing to get his head in front, but this race could be run to suit him. He is also somewhat of a course specialist, having run most of his races here at Caulfield.

This seems like a straight shootout between Pin Deep and Haida Gwaii and we’re siding with Pin Deep. There isn’t a great deal between these two, but Pin Deep seems to have the quicker times on the clock at this distance and his superior experience could see him claim this one.
