ROSEHILL PREVIEW March 30th - Good 4 - Rail Out 6m 1200m to WP; 5m WP to 1200m.

Best Bets

RACE 6: (7) ZOU TIGER: Versatile Group performer was freshened with the carnival in mind after he easily won the Listed Carrington Stakes over 1400m at Randwick on January 27. He’s been tried over varying distances but has shown he runs close to his best when fresh and the pace of this race sets up well for him after his recent strong trial second where he went better than Shinzo (third). He’s the value with his proven liking for this course.

RACE 7: (1) ORCHESTRAL: A meeting of forces with this Kiwi star making her Australian debut against some of our best fillies including the Oaks winner Zardoti. She lands here seeking her fifth successive black type win after beating up the best of her age by big margins in culminating with her demolition of the boys  over 2400m in the G1 NZ Derby a month ago at Ellerslie when he coasted home by four lengths. Her astute trainer has been here and done it with numerous stars and rates this filly as the best – enough said!

RACE 9 – (17) ANOTHER WIL: Few Victorian performers have landed in Sydney in recent times with a bigger boom than this impressive 4YO after rising quickly though the grades with four wins from his first six starts. The ease of his wins have stamped him as a certain Group winner and a recent Rosehill trial win confirmed that he has adapted easily to his new environment. Has everything in his favour to clinch a Doncaster start sitting on the limit weight from a perfect draw.

Why They Can Win…..

RACE 1 – (1) BRIMSTONE: Tough runs recent starts. Rates well in an open race.

RACE 2 – (1) ZEYREK: Won this race last year under 55kg. Multiple Group winner weighted to repeat off good G1 effort last Saturday.

RACE 3 – (6) LINEBACKER: Impressive trial showed he has trained on well since big debut. Can control from the rails draw.

RACE 4 – (1) TANNHAUSER: Expect positive improvement third up on a firmer track. Has been looking for the distance.

RACE 5 – (6) VIENNA PRINCESS: Dropping nicely in weight from G1 company when second up. Fitter now.

RACE 8 – (3) ASHRUN: Top class stayer at 2400m and further. Impressive Pakenham Cup win when second up.

TRIAL POINTERS

GOSFORD March 19: The unraced Impending 3YO POCKET EIGHTS has been a consistent trial performer, having won four of his five trials since his first last August. Did it easily to win this 800m heat in fast time for the session (48.97; 36.40), setting the pace and coasting home for a soft win by more than two lengths. Ready to race well in the right maiden

ROSEHILL March 18: Impressive Melbourne winner ANOTHER WIL is ready to make an impact on the Sydney carnival after breezing through his first local trial over 1030m. Did it easily with plenty in reserve through the line and while the time wasn’t quick (62.00; 35.06) his action oozed class. IKNOWASTAR has won eight of his 16 starts and should be adding to that record in his coming campaign after running away with the fastest 1030m heat by almost seven lengths (60.89; 34.43). This was his second trial and augers well for his return even though he hasn’t won first-up in four attempts. Super Seth youngster LINEBACKER impressed in his debut win and this strong trial win over 900m (55.00; 35.17) was confirmation that he is set to go on with it when he next races. Controlled the heat and could have easily gone quicker coasting home by more than three lengths. In a strong 900m heat (54.34; 34.17) ZOU TIGER found the line under a hold for a strong second while SHINZO was third after he was ridden on the pace for the first time in his recent trials. Only fair through the line and suggest he could have gone better on a firmer deck.

NEWCASTLE February 28: Ciaron Maher added some class to this session with several of his autumn prospects performing well in their heats. Among them were GRINGOTTS and PRINCESS RAYAA.

WARWICK FARM February 26: A strong open heat over 805m was won in fast time by BUTCH CASSIDY (46.97; 33.09).

RANDWICK February 7: A course proper trial over 900m for the Group horses saw Golden Slipper winner SHINZO finish third in his heat (54.31; 35.42), working to the line under no pressure in a trial that is sure to improve his fitness.
