Track – Good 4
Rail – Out 3M entire (previously true the entire)
Cranbourne’s showcase meeting of the year and it has brought together an outstanding 10 race card with the highlights being the Cup and the Meteorite, it promises to be a fabulous days racing.
R1- I really like the lightly raced Damehood here, from her 2 career starts, she won easily on debut, and then was very good in a classy field on Cup Day only being beaten a couple of lengths, posting nice sectionals late. Natural progression has her very hard to beat.
The Moody/Coleman trained Bridal Waltz, a daughter of Snitzel, has been very impressive this time in and I see her providing the stiffest opposition.
Romani Ite Domum has been good in her 3 starts, winning her last 2 in provincial grade, she gets Shinn to steer which is a big plus.
Stormbourg resumes and could surprise at double figure odds.
Backing #8 Damehood
R2- Mount Rinjani had no luck on debut and then was very good at Moonee Valley at his next start, handling a decent field with ease. This son of the emerging sire Grunt should sit off them and be too good late.
The Symon Wilde trained Reel Hot gets to a trip that suits him and I see him being a being a marked improver around the $16 mark, I’ve got him marked less than half that price.
King Of Enterprise and Papal Army are also chances in a race that is going to unearth some nice staying types.
Backing #1 Mount Rinjani and saving #6 Reel Hot
R3- Ahuriri is my best bet on the card. This Waller trained mare sets up perfectly here, she was excellent over the longer trip on Cup Day, showing up late and finding an easier race here. Anything north of $2.50 is a great bet.
The Genius should get a cushy run from the draw and if there is a danger then I suggest it is this son of So You Think.
Duke Of Hastings and Split are chances to round out the trifecta spots.
Backing #7 Ahuriri
R4- Gallant Prince was great first up when running 2nd and I see him going one better here. He boasts a good record early in his prep, will get the prefect run, and the $7 is very appealing.
Team Freedman’s Overactive is ready to produce his best at his 3rd run back from a spell, he draws perfectly to sit just forward of midfield and Melham is in excellent form.
Hennessy Lad is better than a $16 chance and Dual Pressure will be strong late.
Backing #13 Gallant Prince
R5- In a very open race I’m happy to speck Sisterhood. This lovely mare has had her share of injury issues this year, I’m banking on Ciaron Maher to have her ready to fire and return to the winners circle.
The regally bred Grand Larceny has shown glimpses of promise in his brief career, he could be the knockout hope at juicy odds.
Harry Got Styles has been very good of late, a repeat of recent efforts has him in the finish.
Trapeze Warrior has better than average ability and should be very competitive.
Backing #14 Sisterhood
R6- My best value play on the card is Ceerseven, he didn’t receive the best of opportunities last start, I have him ready to fire here. The $16 is succulent and should be entertained each way.
Savoir Faire was good last Sunday at Donald and I love the 6-day backup here, he will be very hard to beat.
Nation’s Call is a definite chance although not much value to my eye.
One that might be a blowout hope is the Snowden trained Behtar, he is ready to improve dramatically and the $35 currently on offer is massive overs.
Backing #9 Ceerseven each way
R7- Konasana comes out slightly on top here, this looks like a target race for this daughter of Dundeel and in a race of slick pace I see her peeling out at the 300M and storming over the top of them.
Marble Arch is a real danger, she will get a lovely run from the draw, and I think one of these two will win.
Floozie is an honest mare and will run well, as will the resuming Wings Of Song.
Backing #3 Konasana and #8 Marble Arch
R8- Nadal is a horse I really like and if the best version of him steps out here then I think he will be too good for them. With a heap of early speed in the race he should sit back and be explosive late.
Baraqiel has been enormous so far in his career, he will be tough to beat although recent racing and the early race pressure has me thinking he may be vulnerable.
Rey Magnerio is also flying and gets a map to suit, he will be strong late.
Spacewalk can be very good at times and might be the forgotten horse.
Backing #12 Nadal
R9- An open cup here, I have a healthy opinion of Von Hauke, I see him being perfectly suited at the trip and at this stage of its prep.
Cadmus 2nd up also appeals, he has a great record after a run back and the $26 available is a great bet.
It’s A Wild Night and Mighty Ulysses can figure in a race of many hopes, that is why I’m looking to head wider in the market.
Backing #7 Von Hauke and #13 Cadmus
R10- Oh Too Good will be just that, he is a very exciting horse who should almost be undefeated in her 6-start career. She will be at prohibitive odds and deservedly so.
Pure Grunt resumes and will run a cheeky race, perhaps a good quiniela play.
Igotcha and Vail Mountain go in for the exotics.
