GOLDEN BOOM looks the hardest to beat, however at the big quote we can bet STEADY READY on an each way basis. Not sure he loved the bottomless track FUP at the Sunny Coast in the Bat out of Hell (1000m). Has been kept on the fresher side for this and is a proven 2nd up performer. Last prep he won 2nd up at this track/trip, absorbed a fast tempo and was strong late. Gets in light and draws well today.

He’s only got the 1 career win to his name which came on debut, since then has been running against the very best 3YO’s at Group level and has been well and truly around the mark. First campaign as a Gelding and trialled up beautifully before running well enough at Sunny Coast on a bottomless deck FUP. With good speed engaged, Mark Zahra should be able to find a back to follow and be hard to hold out.

She looks an absolute bet! G1 WFA winner in NZ two back, beating home AEGON, DESERT LIGHTNING and EL VENCEDOR, the latter went on to win the G1 Bonecrusher, beating home NZ star LEGARTO. This is outstanding form for a F&M race of this nature. Gains the services of J-Mac and looks like a genuine lock and load job.

Nb: Gear change indicates Bar plates first time, however wore them FUP at Rotorua.

She gets her chance to turn the tables on SCARLET OAK and I love the set up to do so. She’s in her 2nd preparation of racing, presents 3rd up and will be ready to peak after sustaining a wide run in The Roses.

SCARLET OAK is a class filly, I just question whether it might be all too much for her in her first prep, she will also have to overcome the wide draw and prove herself on top of the ground.

Comes through the Ortensia Stakes which was won by OPAL RIDGE who presents here as well. OPAL RIDGE is a fresh beast, important to note she is yet to win 2nd up. INSURRECTION gets 3kg off her from that run and profiles as a horse that takes improvement 2nd up. Drawn 1 and will make his own luck on the speed and find the best part of the track.
