#2 Enna’s Dream
She had a slight setback this preparation that stunted her momentum, which resulted in her dropping back in trip at this track a fortnight ago where she was able to run 2nd. I love the way she got through her gears late in that 1200m race, clocking the FL200m of the race and one of the fastest closing splits of the day. The step to 1400m looks absolutely ideal and Damian Lane going on from an inside draw is a huge push. MISS ROUMBINI is in outstanding form and has to go up 5kg in the weights as a consequence.
Suggested Bet: Win
#9 Veecee
An open 3YO sprint race with a capacity field and good speed engaged. VEECEE returns to the races a Gelding off a couple of nice trials in NSW. He’s a get back run on type and may get conditions to suit by this stage of the program. He has run well at Caulfield in the past and gets in with just 52.5kg after the Ryan Houston claim.
Suggested Bet: Each-Way
#3 Mornington Glory
He has been absolutely flying for Gavin Bedggood since switching to the stable. Finished 3rd in the G1 Oakleigh Plate at the end of last preparation and whilst he meets RECOMMENDATION this time in at level weights, he was far stronger through the line than his market danger in that race. He was shaken up late in his latest J/O at Cranbourne and put a space on some handy gallopers, that would suggest he’s forward enough for this.
Suggested Bet: Win
#10 Lafargue
He’s been ticking over nicely this campaign and now finds a Benchmark race where he gets in extremely well at the weights. He was just over 1L off RHEINBERG at Flemington FUP and meets him -6.5kg better off in this. Last preparation when 3rd up on Geelong Cup Day he won convincingly on a soft track and I want to be with him if he follows suit and repeats the dose on Saturday.
Suggested Bet: 1×3 Stake
Best Bet – R9 #10 Lafargue (1×3 stake)
Best Value – R7 #9 Veecee (Each-Way)
A profitable day for us at HQ last weekend with our best value play, RIGHT TO PARTY, saluting in the Creswick Stakes. We also found some joy with a dominant staying performance by STEEL RUN in the Mahogany Challenge Final.
