Saturday’s second matchup pits two teams together who, again, are only separated by one place in the NRL ladder. The Dragons are probably where they expected to be at this stage of the season, just on the edge of the playoff places. However, the Brisbane Broncos aren’t, and they have been well off the pace this year.

They’ve now lost five in a row and find themselves two points behind their opponents here. Before writing the Broncos off I think we have to consider the games they have played during this winless streak. Defeats against the Panthers and the Sharks is no disgrace and it’s always difficult to win in New Zealand against the Warriors. Added to that they ran into two rejuvenated sides in the second half of the season in the Titans and the Rabbitohs.

The Dragons have been inconsistent recently, alternating wins with defeats in their last four. However, what has been consistent is their away form, which has been consistently bad. They have lost four of their last five on the road, and they have picked up most of their points at home this season.

That is definitely bad news here as this is a fixture usually won by the home side. That’s actually an understatement as the last four meetings between them have been dominated by the home team on the day. Take the Broncos to get their season back on track here.
