Richmond v Melbourne Preview, MCG

24 April, 2024

The last of the Opening Round teams to have their early-season byes, Richmond and Melbourne should be fresh after a much-needed rest. The Tigers became the first club to lose to West Coast this season, while the Demons were taken down by the Brisbane Lions before their byes. Injury-decimated Richmond will welcome back midfielder Jacob Hopper (knee) and Dylan Grimes (wrist). Kept quiet against the Lions, Demons midfielder Clayton Oliver underwent minor surgery to fix up a troublesome finger and should reap the benefits. Richmond are still competitive under Adem Yze, but Melbourne will have too much class.

TIP: Melbourne by 26, Christian Petracca to be best-on-ground

Melbourne’s class through the midfield is hard to look past at the MCG, and AFL expert tips consistently back the Demons in this fixture. If you’re weighing up AFL betting tips or sports betting tips this round, the line looks fair value given Richmond’s injury toll.
