Broncos vs Titans Preview by Dean McHugh

24 May, 2024

The Broncos almost blew a first-half lead against Manly last week, but they held their nerve to pick up the victory. The same cannot be said for their opponents in this one who threw away a big half-time lead against the Knights last time out.

However, one thing the teams do have in common is that they tend to do a lot of their scoring early on. The Broncos have scored more points in the first half in their last two straight and the same can be said about the Titans in their previous five. Expect more of the same here.

Bet – More Points Scored in the First Half Than the Second Half

If you’ve been following the NRL tips for this Queensland derby, the first-half scoring pattern isn’t a coincidence – it’s a recurring theme that keeps showing up across both squads.

Cast your mind back to Round 14 this season. The Broncos put 28 points on the board before half-time against the Titans at Suncorp, eventually running out 44-14 winners. The Titans barely showed up in that first half, and their second-half response was too little, too late. That result told you plenty about where both teams stand right now.

Brisbane’s spine – Walsh, Reynolds, Hunt has been clicking, and when those three are on, they can put a side to sleep inside the opening 30 minutes. The Titans do enough to stay competitive in the back end of games, but their habit of gifting easy early points has cost them repeatedly this year.

For anyone using NRL Expert Tips to guide their decisions, the trend here is hard to ignore. Both teams carry more attacking energy in the first 40 than the second, and that’s held true across multiple rounds.

These NRL betting tips aren’t built on hunches they’re built on what’s actually been happening out on the park week to week.
